General
We understand that our patients don't like surprises, and neither do we! That's why we will always be transparent and upfront about the cost of your dental treatment before you commit to doing anything.
For patients with dental insurance, our friendly and knowledgeable team will do their best to determine what your insurance may help out with so you'll understand what your out-of-pocket expenses may be. We will file insurance claims on your behalf, and your insurance company will reimburse you for their portion.
We also work with companies like CareCredit that offer third-party financing, which helps patients break the cost of their treatment into affordable monthly payments, so treatment doesn't break their budget.

BOTOX® Treatment for TMD
Yes! BOTOX® can be an effective treatment for jaw clenching and excessive teeth grinding. While BOTOX is widely known for its aesthetic benefits, like smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, it also works as a muscle relaxer.
How Does BOTOX Work?
When injected into overactive jaw muscles (usually the masseters), BOTOX helps reduce the intensity of involuntary clenching and grinding—also known as bruxism—without affecting normal speaking, biting, or chewing. Unaddressed bruxism often leads to symptoms like limited movement and pain in the jaw, tension headaches, worn-down teeth, and even disrupted sleep. By relaxing the targeted muscles, BOTOX eases that pressure, reduces pain, and helps prevent further damage to your teeth and jaw joint.
What Is Getting BOTOX Like?
The BOTOX procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and generally well-tolerated. Most patients notice relief within a few days, with full effects kicking in after one to two weeks. Results typically last three to four months, after which maintenance treatments can be scheduled as needed.
If nightguards alone aren’t cutting it — or if you’re looking for an alternative approach — BOTOX may be a safe and effective option. A qualified provider can help determine if it’s right for your symptoms and overall health goals.

Composite Fillings & Bonding
Your dental fillings work hard to protect your smile, but how long they last depends on how well you care for them. With proper oral hygiene and regular checkups, fillings can last years, keeping your teeth strong and pain-free.
However, neglect can lead to wear, cracks, or even new decay. Don’t let minor issues become big problems; take care of your fillings, and they’ll take care of you!
Tips for Making Your Dental Fillings Last
Your dental fillings will last several years, depending on how you care for them. Here are some ways to keep your fillings for as long as possible:
- Practice good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing each day.
- Limit sugary drinks and snacks and avoid hard and sticky foods.
- Drink plenty of water to wash away food particles in your mouth.
- Visit your Hamlin dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and exam.

Dental Cleanings
In most cases, we can combine treatment procedures to streamline appointments unless you need more complex procedures like bone grafting or dental implants requiring healing time. Straightening your teeth with SureSmile® is also a more lengthy treatment, with completion times differing for patients based on their needs.
If you're considering multiple treatment procedures to restore or enhance your smile, scheduling an evaluation with Dr. Garcia to discuss your options is the first place to start. He'll review the procedures, the time it will take to complete your treatment, and the cost so there are no surprises for your budget.
Your Comfort Is Our Priority
If you are going to complete multiple complex procedures during one appointment, Dr. Garica may talk with you about your options for oral sedation. By taking medication an hour before your appointment, you can experience deep relaxation during your procedures, which most people describe as feeling like they're asleep.
If you choose oral sedation for your appointment, you'll need to arrange transportation to and from and plan on relaxing for the remainder of your day due to the nature of the medication.

A beautiful, healthy smile makes it possible to show your confidence to the world. At Hamlin Dental, we believe regular dental cleanings are the key to keeping your smile bright, healthy, and strong for years to come.
Plaque and tartar don’t take a break, and skipping cleanings can lead to cavities, gum disease, and bigger problems down the road. Please don’t wait until you have a dental issue; schedule your cleaning today and give your smile the care it deserves!
What Happens at a Dental Cleaning?
For most patients, we recommend a dental cleaning and exam twice a year. However, if you have specific dental issues, you may need to visit more often.
When you arrive for your dental cleaning, here’s what to expect:
- Physical exam — First, a hygienist will examine your teeth and gums for potential issues, such as tooth decay or gum disease.
- Plaque and tartar removal — Next, using a special dental tool, one of our hygienists will remove plaque and tartar from around your gumline.
- Gritty toothpaste — We’ll use special toothpaste and a high-powered electric toothbrush to clean your teeth.
- Flossing and rinsing — Next, we’ll floss between your teeth and have you rinse your mouth.
- Dental exam — Finally, your dentist will perform an oral cancer screening, review any x-rays, and help you form a treatment plan if you have any dental concerns.

Dental Crowns and Bridges
Hamlin Dental is excited to offer CEREC technology to complete restorations like dental crowns in only one appointment. This means you'll leave the same day you came in with a fully functioning, durable, and aesthetic restoration that you can start enjoying right away.
How CEREC Works at Hamlin Dental
Dr. Garcia scans your tooth, creating a 3-D image that he uses to design your new restoration. He sends that image and his specifications to a milling machine located in our Hamlin dental office. The machine uses high-quality porcelain to mill a new tooth for your smile.
Dr. Garcia is able to permanently place the crown as soon as it's milled and make any needed adjustments so we ensure that your bite functions correctly. This process takes about 60 to 90 minutes, and then you're off to enjoy your new tooth!
The Benefits of Same-Day Crowns
This process is streamlined and shorter than the two to three weeks patients used to have to wait for a dental lab to make their crowns. It is also more comfortable as there are no messy impressions required to create your new tooth, and no need to wear an uncomfortable temporary crown while you wait for the dental lab.
Contact us at (585) 964-2000 if you have questions about same-day crowns in Hamlin, NY.
Dental Implants
The answer is yes. Dr. Garcia has the extensive skills and training to complete implant dentistry from start to finish at our Hamlin dental office. This means you won't have to seek a specialist for any aspect of your care.
Have you been told in the past that you're not a candidate for dental implants because of severe bone loss? Dr. Garcia can perform a procedure called bone grafting to rebuild your jawbone so it can successfully support dental implants. Bone grafting procedures make dental implants accessible to everyone regardless of their prior bone health.
The Advantages of Dental Implants
Tooth implants offer several advantages for our patients:
- The look, function, and feeling of a natural tooth
- Excellent longevity as they can last for many years, sometimes a lifetime
- Easy care with routine brushing and flossing
- Protection for bone health since the implant replaces your root
- Bite stabilization as your implant will keep neighboring teeth from shifting

- Dental Checkups — Visit your Hamlin dentist for checkups and teeth cleanings.
- Smart Habits — Never use your teeth or veneers as tools to open packages.
- Be Mindful — If you notice signs of bruxism (teeth grinding), talk to your dentist.
- Be Safe — Wear the proper mouthguard during ball-oriented or contact sports.
- Call Us — If you notice oral health changes, always let us know.

Root Canal Treatment
The answer is yes. Dr. Garcia is highly skilled at delivering comfortable and efficient root canal treatment.
A tooth infection is most likely the cause of your discomfort when you need a root canal. An infected tooth does not resolve independently, so seeking treatment is essential if you're experiencing constant and excruciating tooth pain.
Root canal treatment alleviates discomfort, eliminates infection, and preserves your natural tooth from extraction.
What Happens During Root Canal Treatment in Hamlin?
During a root canal procedure, Dr. Garcia removes the infected tissue from the pulp of your tooth, cleaning it out to ensure it's infection-free. Then, he seals the tooth with a temporary filling to allow it time to heal.
When your tooth feels better and is fully healed, you'll return to Hamlin Dental to have Dr. Garcia strengthen it with a permanent crown or filling. Rebuilding your tooth ensures you'll still have the best tooth function after your root canal treatment, and you can chew and eat with ease.
Do You Have Tooth Pain?
If you or a loved one is experiencing a toothache or pain that's keeping you from normal daily activities, we encourage you to contact Hamlin Dental at (585) 964-2000 for prompt emergency dental care.
SureSmile® Clear Aligners
The answer is yes, with SureSmile® clear aligners!
SureSmile uses clear plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires to gently move your teeth into alignment. Wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours each day ensures that you achieve your desired results on time, and most patients can finish straightening their teeth in anywhere from six to 18 months, depending on their needs.
The Advantages of Clear Aligners in Hamlin
SureSmile aligners offer some clear advantages over traditional braces:
- Discretion: No one will ever know that you're straightening your teeth with clear aligners
- Ease: You can enjoy all the foods you love with no restrictions to your diet with SureSmile
- Comfort: Clear aligners are smooth and comfortable to wear instead of pokey metal brackets and wires
- Cleanliness: Brushing and flossing is easy when you don't have to navigate around brackets and wires
Will SureSmile Work for Me?
The best way to determine if SureSmile is a treatment that will help you achieve your smile goals is to book an evaluation with Dr. Garcia. He's a certified SureSmile provider who can determine if it's the right treatment for aligning your teeth.

Tooth Extraction
While every patient's situation is unique, it generally takes a couple of weeks for a tooth extraction in Hamlin to heal completely.
However, with your active participation in the tooth extraction aftercare, you should start feeling better after a couple of days. Here's what you should know.
Tips for Comfortable and Efficient Healing after Oral Surgery
Immediately after surgery, apply pressure to the extraction site by biting down on gauze. This helps to contain the bleeding.
Plan on resting for the remainder of the day after surgery and for the next few days, if possible.
Avoid vigorous exercise for the first 72 hours after surgery. Also, avoid smoking and drinking liquids through a straw, as these activities could dislodge the blood clot essential to the healing process.
Be Careful What You Eat
Eat soft foods at room temperature for the first few days after surgery. Here are some ideas for snacks and meals:
- Smoothies or shakes
- Oatmeal
- Applesauce
- Scrambled eggs
- Soup
Avoid spicy, crunchy, or hard foods that could irritate your extraction site.
